What Are In-Kind Donations?
In-kind donations are non-cash gifts made to the Sporthorse Renewal Foundation. Instead of giving money, donors provide goods or services that directly support our mission and reduce our operational costs. These contributions are vital to the success of our work rehabilitating and retraining sporthorses.
Examples of In-Kind Donations
We welcome a wide range of in-kind donations, including but not limited to:
- Horses in need of retraining, rehabilitation, or sanctuary
- Tack and stable equipment (saddles, bridles, blankets, grooming supplies)
- Hay, grain, and nutritional supplements
- Veterinary care, medical supplies, and medications
- Farrier and dental services
- Trailering and transportation
- Donated land, stables, or facility use
-Donated real-estate that can be sold and the funds go to the foundation
- Professional services such as legal, accounting, or website or social media support
- Vehicles that can be donated and sold or used
How In-Kind Donations Help
In-kind contributions allow us to focus our funding on essential care, training, and outreach. Every bale of hay or hour of veterinary time donated makes a direct impact on the lives of the horses we serve.
Tax Benefits for Donors
In many cases, in-kind donations to our 501(c)(3) nonprofit may be tax-deductible:
- For gifts over $500, IRS Form 8283 must be completed.
- For gifts over $5,000, a qualified appraisal may be required.
We encourage all donors to consult with a tax professional.
We will provide a written acknowledgment letter for all in-kind donations. While we cannot assign a dollar value, we will describe the donated item or service and include our EIN and confirmation of 501(c)(3) status.
